According to UK media on July 14th, experts at the National Galleries of Scotland after an X-ray examination found a self-portrait of Van Gogh behind the canvas of his earlier painting, Head of a Peasant Woman. This Van Gogh self-portrait, hidden for more than a century, shows the image of a bearded man in a hat. It is understood that Van Gogh often would work on the opposite side of the canvas to save money. At present, the museum is studying how to remove the glue and cardboard on the back without damaging the Head of a Peasant Woman painting.
