Alibaba announced its plan last year to open another data hub following the success of the one currently operating in the UAE, but now it is re-evaluating this decision because of changes in its business and facility requirements in the region. The middle east is seeing a rising demand for cloud services as more companies migrate their data, applications, and servers to web-based cloud providers. Alibaba cloud is currently in third place with regards to the cloud database market share globally following Amazon and Microsoft.
