Aliexpress is adopting livestream e-commerce to sell globally

Alibaba’s international e-commerce marketplace Aliexpress is recruiting over 100,000 content creators and influencers worldwide and testing the newly launched platform ‘Aliexpress Connect’, which aims at serving brands to sell across the globe with the help of live streaming technology. This home-grown and locally-tested innovation is widely welcomed in China especially among people who were forced indoors during the pandemic lockdown, resorting to online purchasing shifted from offline buying. Tech majors including video apps Douyin, Kuaishou as well as Alibaba’s rivals Pinduoduo and JD all jumped on board, wishing to reap the benefits of the live streaming trend.
