Baidu removes 50 billion pieces of ‘harmful’ content

Amid the in-depth scrutiny and surveillance of cyber content by the government, Baidu is taking relevant actions removing 50 billion pieces of “harmful” content, following a series of the content constraining policies applied by social networks and short video applications. The intensifying purge has affected most of the main internet services in China and achieved the progress of the self-surveillance technology – moderators and automatic checkers were continuously deployed by providers to intercept improper, vulgar and harmful content.
