To further the deal of forming the new company TikTok Global with Oracle and Walmart to keep the short video app alive in the US, Bytedance recently applied to China’s Ministry of Commerce for permission to export certain technology. The company said on Monday that neither the algorithm nor the technology will be transferred but Oracle would be able to access its code for review. However, two types of Bytedance’s technology are on the list which was revised last month by the authorities that prohibits or restricts export. It’s still not certain as of whether Beijing will grant a green light to the deal.
