TikTok’s parent company Bytedance has filed for a preliminary injunction to prevent the short video app from the imposed ban and the removal from app stores in the US, in the event of the restriction by the Trump administration coming into effect at midnight Sunday. Though the president has approved ‘in concept’ to have Bytedance setting up a new company TikTok Global with Oracle and Walmart, the deal still awaits Beijing’s greenlight which is likely to be turned down over concerns about China’s technology interests and national dignity. As far as the case goes, turning to the court is Bytedance’s last resort in an aim to keep the app floating in America.
