Bytedance’s third app features mini programs to prolong users’ dwell-on time

Following the content aggregator Jinri Toutiao and the sister service provider Douyin, another Bytedance backed video platform Huoshan unveiled its mini program ecosystem. The new feature enables users to run applet games within the app. Despite the withdrawal of the service from Jinri Toutiao’s iOS devices, the move by Bytedance indicates that the company still sees it as a driving force of user engagement, with a great potential to expand the service span.
