China’s Golden Week ended with a rebound in the tourist industry
The eight-day Chinese national holiday finished on the 8th, closing with RMB 466.6 billion revenue from 637 million domestic trips during the time, which has infused tremendous confidence to the tourism industry. Constrained by the strict quarantine policy when returning from outbound trips as well as the restrictions on visa application, short distance journeys were favoured by most travellers as opposed to overseas trips, and the shift boosted the domestic car rental business throughout the country. Scenic spots were mostly operating at three-quarters of usual capacity to comply with social distancing guidelines, contributing to the 30% decline in revenue compared to the same time last year.
