China’s tech companies have come under anti-competitive scrutiny

Chinese tech companies are more than ever being scrutinized under anti-trust laws of their monopolistic behaviour. Several acquisitions dealt years ago with monopolistic intention have been re-examined by the State Administration of Market Regulation (SAMR) lately, and tech giants which were involved in cases, including Alibaba, Tencent, Didi and logistic company SF Express, were fined the maximum amount of RMB 500,000. Though no punitive measures have been officially released, the move is signalling that tech bellwethers are no longer immune to monopolies restrictions.
