Pinduoduo rolled out its own payment solution Duoduo Pay on Thursday, with an clear aim to lower the financial transaction fee paid to Tencent WeChat’s Pay and to keep user payment information within its own system. Before becoming a controlling share holder of a Shanghai-based third-party payment service provider, Pinduoduo’s cost of financial transactions amounted to RMB 516 million.
