Affected by the tariff threats imposed by the deteriorating relationship between China and the US, Foxconn said it was ready to expand its international factories should tariffs render products made in China too expensive in the US in a conference on Tuesday. The Taiwan-based conglomerate, which is known for assembling precision electronic products, is facing the possibility of a reduction in orders if the trade war escalates. As a pioneer in the field, Foxconn’s decision to move its manufacturing base outside of mainland China might well be followed by other OEM (original equipment manufacturer) companies.
