Handset sales recovered in China in March
It seems that the late arrival of springtime for the smartphone industry is finally here after a bitter and cold winter – its sales in China climbed 241% compared to that of February, though were still down 23% from a year earlier. A regiment of new lineups by local phone makers partially attributed to the boost – according to the data by China’s Ministry of Information Industry and Technology (MIIT), 34 new models were launched to meet the pent-up market demands on hold during the COVID-19 lockdown. Despite the rebound, the attendant pandemic economic shock and the relevant dismay outlook still dissipates nationwide. Smartphone brands have to work hard to convince people that new devices with 5G services are a better investment.
