The new handset V40 by Honor will be the first model released by the company after it became independent of Huawei under pressure from US sanctions. The processor that powers the device is from MediaTek, a Taiwanese chipmaker restricted to engage business with Huawei subjected to the US export regulation, while it remains unclear whether the chips were bought before or after the split. Meanwhile, Google apps and services which are barred from being accessed by Huawei are reportedly available to international users on the new mobile phone.
