Huawei to deploy self-developed HarmonyOS to smartphones next year

Pushed by the US technical sanction aiming to deplete the use of made-in-America technology by Huawei, the company announced on Thursday that its in-house Android replacement Harmony OS will be used in smartphones next year, and developers will be granted early accesses in December. The operation system debuted in Huawei smart television sets last year and later on in smartwatches, however the lagging behind app ecosystem has resulted in bugs affecting user experience.
