Huawei’s CFO filed a lawsuit against the Canadian government for her wrongful imprisonment

Meng Wanzhou, the CFO of Huawei, sues the Canadian government on March 1st, the same day on which she was to be extradited to the USA to face the charge of violating sanction against Iran. However, neither China nr the US has extricated itself from the accusation of political involvement in the case. US president Donald Trump presented his position last December by saying he would interfere in Meng’s case as part of a trade deal with China. His Chinese counterpart stated that this is not merely a judicial case, but rather political persecution against a high-tech Chinese enterprise, adding that it was “utterly dissatisfied and firmly opposed to it“.
