With the border tension escalating between China and India, the Indian government on Wednesday banned another 118 made-in-China apps including Tencent’s popular video game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, which were accused of ‘stealing and surreptitiously transmitting users’ data in an unauthorized manner to servers which have locations outside India’. Though the restrictive move is seen more like a political counterattack than a cybersecurity protection, it indeed provides greater opportunities to homegrown application developers.
