The video-conferencing app Zoom is currently unavailable for Chinese individual registrations to set up distant video calls due to ‘regulatory demand’ while corporate users remain unaffected. However, companies that wish to purchase services from the platform have to present business licenses issued by Chinese market regulators, which adds difficulties to the used-to-be simple process. The suspension is generally believed relevant to the upcoming annual meeting of the Chinese Congress.
