Since the license requirement imposed by the US government came into effect on Sept. 15 which has hindered semiconductor companies across the globe to provide Huawei with chips, several major suppliers have applied for shipping permissions, and Intel became the first one to be granted a licence. Analysts believe it’s a signal by the US that they would rather the Chinese tech behemoth rely on the US technology than having it develop chips of its own. Huawei’s smartphone manufacturing is currently secured by sufficient chip stock, but the existing stockpile won’t last long.
