JD teams up with Google Express to sell in the US
Following Alibaba’s aggressive march on the US market in collaboration with Depot Office, JD started its retailing business in the region via a partnership with Google Express. Product categories vary from electronics, home appliances, automotive parts to pet supplies, mostly priced under $100, while 3C (computer, communications, and consumer electronics) products accounted for a large proportion. The overseas movement was deemed as a business compromise for JD since the local competition within the e-commerce industry has been escalating fiercely. Confronting the old foe Alibaba’s unceasingly global expanding and the emerging competitor, such as Pinduoduo, which is scaling up by embracing social networking, JD has to seek out opportunities by which to survive from the bullet-less war.
