JD to be the first e-commerce platform to accept digital currency

The central bank of China is pushing hard for the utilization of digital currency, and tech companies are responding to it quickly. Chinese leading e-commerce platform JD.com lately said that it would allow digital yuan to be used as payment throughout its online mall service. Meanwhile, Suzhou will be the second city in China after Shenzhen promoting the use of the new currency on Dec. 12, with a lottery scheme to distribute 200 digital yuan “red envelopes” to 100,000 consumers.
