The American reality television star Kim Kardashian is planning her business route in the world’s second-largest economy – China. Having set accounts up on trendy social media platforms, Weibo and Xiaohongshu, she engages with followers by posting snippets of life and makeup tips. Yet her fans figure in China was dwarfed by that in the US, she still sees the potential within – there are a number of Western celebrities precedents having obtained fame by marketing themselves successfully in China, such as US wrestling star John Cena.
