Luckin to pay $180 million in face of SEC penalty

After being mandated by the Chinese market regulator to a RMB 61 million ($ 9 million) fine on the sales fabricating scandal, Luckin, the still operating coffee brand is facing another penalty imposed by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), with a possible amount of $180 million. Its shares surged 96% to close at $7.35 on Thursday, though dwarfed by its peak of $50 per share when listed on the Nasdaq.
