Several Meituan users complained about their inability to complete orders with Alipay – the option simply disappeared from the checkout page, while other popular payment solutions remained available. As of now it’s an incident that happened to only a small group of Meituan users, but the possibility exists that it could grow into an overall payment suspension. Despite the fact that Alibaba is one of the earliest investors of the lifestyle platform, Alipay has been blocked by Meituan three times since 2016.
