In several cities, delivery fleets contracted to the Chinese food delivery giant Meituan Dianping are striking in protest over the lowering pay per order and the demand for reduction in delivery time. The conflict magnifies the pressure within the company to make a profit after its public listing in 2018. However, the friction between service providers and workers has become the norm within the industry. Meituan’s rival, Ele.me has confronted several similar issues since its launch.
