NetEase is following Tencent to curb adolescent gaming addiction

Acting in response to the administrative call-out and the rival’s one-step-ahead initiative, NetEase, the Chinese second best gaming platform to Tencent, is taking measures limiting time spent by users aged under 12 on playing its games. Amid the intensifying scrutiny and authorities lobbying over the past year, the gaming industry in China has seen a forced slowdown, mostly by a nine-month moratorium of issuing new game licenses, which has eventually eased since last December.
