Netease was again entrapped into fake product sales scandal
In the country where counterfeit products are still rampant, authenticity as a product issue is in the public spotlights and getting on everyone’s nerves. If asked about the motivation of purchasing overseas, nine out of ten would have answered, for product authenticity, which is also the marketing point for overseas e-commerce platforms such as Xiaohongshu and Netease Kaola. However, recently Kaola was sued by the global cosmetic and beauty corporation Estee Lauder (China) for allegedly selling MAC products without authorization. This is not the first legal dispute between the two companies – the last case was attributed to the sale of fake skin care products dating back to 2018 February. Of course, Kaola denied both claims.
