Peppa pig’s promo clip received huge acclaim on social media
Promo videos, or trailers, are usually closely associated with films, mostly footage spliced from the movie or behind-the-scenes. However, Peppa Celebrates Chinese New Year, a big screen by-product of Peppa Pig series which is scheduled to premiere in China on Feb. 5, acts against the normal code. It published a promo video last Friday featuring an old grandpa’s exploration of “What’s Peppa” in an undeveloped Chinese village and ends up with a happy but humorous finish where grandpa’s manual craft of a Peppa-like, pink blast blower amused his families. Touching and light-hearted, the clip has been widely appreciated with favorable comments posted on social networking. “It genuinely moved me deep within as it elaborated the kinship of the Chinese family – love, reunion, and generations. The video was filmed with a ‘hard-core’ style but what’s underlying is soft and sound”, says one Weibo user. According to the data by Alibaba, the massive hit received over 310 million views within 24 hours.
