Pinduoduo launched a cross-border e-commerce platform, but invitation-only for now
With a connotation of superior quality, overseas products, which are always sold at a premium price, are gaining popularity among Chinese users. However, cross-border e-commerce has provided a relatively inexpensive solution for those people who prefer higher-end life style. Since the army of international purchasing is rapidly growing, e-commerce platforms are exploring cross-border feasibility, and Pinduoduo is the latest member to join. It has recently launched a platform with temporary “zero commission charged” for key accounts including consumer brands and online retailers. Several global brands such as Nestle, Unilever, and several prestigious consumer goods retailers have filed their applications and are awaiting approval.
