Pinduoduo sold goods worth RMB 65 billion from anti-poverty program in 2018
Pinduoduo’s efforts put into the poverty eradication project has statistically paid back. According to its recent official announcement, the e-commerce platform last year reached a sales revenue of RMB 65 billion by selling farm produce from poverty-stricken regions, in an attempt to help the poor escape from the current situation by employing innovative internet technology. The report timely and strongly responded to the policy of poverty-alleviation policy stressed during the ongoing Two Session meeting, in which the premier Li Keqiang encouraged rural dwellers to seize the opportunity accompanying the technological revolution. Proposal calling for administrative supports aiming to smooth over the difficulties initiating e-commerce to the rural area was also brought up by the CEO of NetEase.
