Pinduoduo teams up with several Shanghai heritage brands to boost sales and platform reputation
E-commerce is a verified effective solution to a spectrum of discouraging domestic brands which have tapped the rising wave of online consumption demands along with the associated exposure opportunities. A recently publicized program has caught public attention. Initiated by Shanghai’s municipal government and Pinduoduo, it aims at promoting local heritage brands which have seen a market decline over the recent past years. Products listed in the project are sold inexpensively and whose selling points fit in with the tone of the e-commerce platform, and they are rarely fake, which might correct Pinduoduo’s reputation from a reseller of counterfeit products.
