Sharp outsourced sensor production to Foxconn and laid off over 3,000 employees

The Japanese leading electronics manufacturer Sharp Corp. has laid off over 3,000 foreign employees and transferred its iPhone sensor production contract to the parent company, Foxconn, in China. Encountering the nationwide labor shortage, Japan has started to think over whether the advantages of hiring foreign workers is offset by the disadvantages, given the fact that the demand for temporary stuff is greatly dependent on the production cycle.
