Tencent’s another effort to crack the short video market

Since 2016, Tencent has made several attempts to resurrect its declining short video business, however, all failed. The recently emerged app Hotpot Video, which is a renovation of Yoo, was seen as the last endeavor by the tech giant, in line with the latest update of WeChat focusing on the short video function. The platform provides a content-creator friendly environment allowing users to upload videos with lengths of up to 3 minutes.
