Tencent’s one step forward to the pan-entertainment market

The appointment of the non-executive director Cheng Wu by Maoyan, a Tencent-backed movie-ticketing platform, signals Tencent’s ambition in digital entertainment. Cheng holds major responsibility in both China Literature, a fan fiction-style literature platform and Tencent. The integration is to tap into the internet literature to diversify the company’s TV and movie cart. Another tech giant, Alibaba, is also fortifying its pan-entertainment empire by enhancing services ranging from reading to streaming.
