The Alibaba backed second-hand goods trading platform draws concerns
A case widely talked about is that of the leading second-hand e-commerce platform Xianyu, which is attracting social concerns these days. A user who sells used baby clothes for her daughter turned to the police after frequently receiving explicit, aggressive and even unpleasant in-app messages from other users, because of the easy to use function intended to facilitate the smooth communication between sellers and buyers. She’s also frightened about her family’s and individual safety as the personal address is usually on packages as a sender. However, the issue raised public attention of the need for a balance between protecting user privacy and making full use of an open marketplace to sell and recycle used goods.
