American president Donald Trump ratcheted up the tariffs this Friday on Chinese product from 10% to 25%, mainly on telecom equipment. The news comes at a pivotal time in the negotiations soon on the table between the two largest economies seeking to resolve the year-long trade war which has harmed both sides. The new tariff scheme will inevitably push up the price of electronic devices made in China, and small carriers in the US which rely heavily on Chinese gears will struggle in their business since they are sold at competitive prices.
