The scientist who conducted gene editing on twins girls defended himself

The scientist, He Jiankui, attended the International Human Genome Editing Summit at the University of Hong Kong on Wednesday, and defended himself against the accusation that he behaved unethically, stating that he was proud of the case due to the unavailability of HIV vaccine, and that he would be willing to allow his own child to undergo genetic modification if necessary. His research was widely questioned and faced a multitude of challenges including the possibility of genetic mutation and unknown dangers which might be passed on to future generations.
