China is in good company in terms of restricting sweeping applications – The Indian authorities are considering banning TikTok claiming it spreads vulgar and low-brow content. In response, ByteDance, the mother company of the short video service, revealed that it’s in the process of recruiting a chief nodal officer to coordinate better with the law enforcement authorities. The person who at present takes care of relationship with local government is Sandhya Sharma, a former MasterCard India and Samsung executive. According to official data, TikTok now boasts 25 million active users in India and owns an India-specific social content-sharing app – Helo.
