Bytedance is facing heightened pressure as countries are limiting its presence within their borders. Following the ban in India and an investigation performed by two federal agencies in the US, Japan joined the boycott by proposing to restrain the use of the app domestically due to a range of data safety concerns. The company’s head of AI is said to leave this month amid mounting pressure about artificial intelligence being widely used for video content censoring.
