Following the legal challenge from a group of Chinese American lawyers targeting the WeChat ban, the Trump administration is facing another lawsuit which is to be filed by Bytedance against the ban of transactions with its short video platform TikTok. The company claimed that the litigation is a means of protecting users’ interests and to make sure the company is fairly treated. However, what has been happening to Bytedance can be seen as a bargaining chip in negotiations with its potential buyers in the US such as Microsoft and Oracle.
