WeChat becomes another online shopping entry in China

A growing number of users are buying from WeChat mini-programs, and the giant social app is challenging big e-commerce players like Alibaba and JD.com. The pandemic and the resultant lockdown have powered the growth of shopping on the app, whose daily active users increased by a third to 400 million in 2020 as captive consumers wandered between platforms looking for good buys.
