China’s Twitter-like social media platform Weibo is narrowing the range of websites available to its link-shortening service t.cn. External links posted by users will be confined to those that are on the whitelist, which contains URLs only from authorized and licensed media outlets or government bodies, and which are automatically converted into t.cn links. The move is aimed to curb the circulation of information about gambling, pornography, or pyramid schemes.
