Weibo’s personal feeds older than 6 months can now be hidden
Privacy protection or simply mimicking WeChat? Weibo recently launched a new feature which allows users to hide their feeds older than 6 months. The action was claimed by the Weibo official account to “give users more initiative and managerial power”, while commentary remains suspicious about the real purpose, criticizing the approach as being merely following in its rival’s footstep, since a similar function was implemented by the Chinese social giant WeChat two years ago. However, considering the personal feeds update is peripheral to messaging service of WeChat, it might not be the right action for Weibo to intimate as the hidden posts can slash the bank of amassed diverse and varied posts which other users might require.
