Zoom shifts to partner-only model to maintain business in China

Amid the escalating tension between China and the US, the America-based popular video conferencing software Zoom announced recently that it would suspend direct services in China and leave the job to local authorized partners. The company was harshly criticized of its routing of users’ calls through data centres in China during the worldwide pandemic lockdowns in April when teleworking requirement surged, which had further sparked mistrust of Zoom over its data privacy handling across the globe.
