The short video app Zynn, an overseas product introduced by the second-largest Chinese short video company Kuaishou, was removed from both Google Play and App Store. Its pay-to-watch marketing approach, which is a practice of paying rewards (usually cash) to users who watch videos and invite new users to use the app, had resulted in the app becoming ‘the most downloaded’ on the US App Store in the first week of June. Zynn is also denounced for plagiarising, while western social influencers complained that their videos had been uploaded to the platform without being informed.
